Contrary to what one may initially think of when they think 'Orcs', the Orcs of Genesia are among the most peaceful, laid-back races. Make no mistake, though; when angered, Orcs can be a force to be reckoned with. With an average height ever so slightly greater than that of Humans, Orcs heil from the distant eastern continent of Gharana, living in deserts and arid shrublands--occasionally within marshes as well.
They became close allies of the Elves during the 2nd Era, and some of them joined with the Elves in their war against the Lands of Iron. Today, Orcs can be found at just about every corner of the realm, least common in the northern Dwarven territories, as Orcs are very heat resistant, but not fond of the cold or snow.
Orcs are a generally peaceful, easy-going people. Their society consists of numerous nomadic and sedentary tribes spread across Gharana. While there has been some fights and skirmishes between the tribes throughout history, it is overall a much less bloody past than that of The Lands of Iron.
They have a deep connection to the land, and a special bond with the spirits and elemental plane that other races can scarcely fathom. Their culture is rich with music and rituals, with yearly holidays dedicated to particular spirits and elements. It's exceptionally rare to enter an Orcish tribe and not hear some form of music, namely drums, tambourines and flutes.
Within their own societies, Orcs wear little or no clothing, which helps with the hot climate. They are, however, fond of simple jewelry, piercings, and tattoos. It is rare to find Orc jewelry with valuable gems--Those that wear any, if at all, are probably high-standing members in the tribe.
Shamanism was created by the Orcs, and its practices and secrets are closely guarded within their culture, shared only with the Lizardfolk that share their lands.
Orcs have some of the best herbalists and alchemists in the land, particularly when it comes to treating ailments and diseases.
Unlike most other Genesian cultures, the Orcish culture is primarily Matriarchal.
