Half-Elves, as the name suggests, are born from the mixing of Human and Elven bloodlines. Their appearance varies as wildly as their genes, with some Half-Elves easily distinguishable as such with both the strong jawline of a Human and the ears of an Elf, while others have the features of one more than the other, making them difficult to identify at a glance.
Although friendly Human and Elf relations only began in the early Second Era, there is evidence that a spattering of Half Elves existed prior to this. Throughout the Second Era they were frowned upon in the Lands of Iron, thought not outright hated--though this view did turn more negatively during the war between Delenor and The Lands of Iron.
In general, Half Elves are able to integrate well into whichever of the two cultures they identify most with. They can be found in both Elven and Human cities today.
They are known as an incredibly resourceful and adaptable people, traits taken from both sides of their heritage. In general, they are highly perceptive and intelligence, and many Half-Elves find themselves settling down as accountants, bookkeepers, and business people.
However, Half Elves are also known as the most adventurous race, particularly when they're younger. A natural inquisitiveness and desire to 'find themselves' means that Half Elves are very widespread travellers who often search for adventure.
Even moreso than the Half-Giants, Half-Elf culture varies wildly. Some wholly embrace Human culture, some embrace that of the Elves--and some find a middleground, keeping some traditions from both sides.
